Periodically, we decide that it's time to change the theme of our child's room. But this does not have to be a bad experience if you go about it the right way. Saving on kid's bedroom furniture and decor is easy as long as you do some research first and take your time looking.
There are a number of places that you can save money for these furnishings. You could wait and find deals at a large retail center, although if you have already made plans there is no telling how long you would have to wait. The better plan is to find some distributors and look for sales. This is actually easier than you might think.
There are certain times of the year where these stores have massive annual sales. This is a terrific time to pick something out. They are looking to deal during these times and usually have extra stock on hand just for this time.
Large furnishings stores will have complete sets that you can pick up for a discount. You will have to buy the entire set in order to get the deal, but it's worth it since everything is guaranteed to match. You also want to look at some sets that they are trying to move out to make room for new merchandise. Take the time to ask a few questions of the manager or clerk to see when they will be receiving their next large shipment.
If you go online you might even be able to save more since they don't have as much markup. You will have to pay shipping but if you know what the items would typically cost you can see if you would still come out ahead. If you find something you want see if there is a manufacturing plant near you. Picking it up will eliminate a lot of the cost.
Another way to keep some of your cash is to look for discontinued items. This is a great way to save as the retailer is anxious to get rid of it, since they know there won't be anymore pieces coming in.
If you are somewhat mechanically inclined and don't mind doing some of the work yourself you are in luck. If you agree to buy the items disassembled and put them together yourself you can save a lot of money. This is a plus for the merchant because assembled furniture takes up a lot more room. Plus, if they don't have to pay employees to put it together it saves them time and money, which can be passed onto you.
Outlet stores are another excellent plan for saving on kid's bedroom furniture and decor. These are popping up everywhere so go online and you are sure to find a location near you. If there aren't any close by, then look for manufacturers that have showrooms for customers. They allow you to come right to the factory and pick up what you want.
